Hello MASFAA from the President!
More than fifty years ago, a group of financial aid administrators saw the need to form a regional financial aid association in an effort to promote the ideals of the profession - quality training and professional development opportunities, advocacy and support for financial aid programs, and the facilitation of effective communication and coordination among interrelated professional associations. Five decades later, I am both humbled and honored that the membership has entrusted me with the presidency of MASFAA for the next year. I am grateful that an excellent group of individuals are joining me to form an executive council that is enthusiastic and passionate for the future of our association.
Participation in this association is key to its success. Mark your calendars now to attend our Summer Institute June 1-5 in Indianapolis and our annual conference in Coralville, Iowa, October 4-7, 2015. Planning is well underway for both of these signature training events. Follow progress for these events and other MASFAA news by following our new blog, MASFAA Moments. The blog and other social media will serve as the springboard for many of the new communication initiatives outlined in our new strategic plan.
In the upcoming year, the Executive Council will embark on the inaugural year of our five-year strategic plan. The plan is very succinct, quite ambitious, but accomplishable. I invite you to read the details of our new Strategic Long Range Plan in the "Association Information" section of this website. It will take many MASFAA members connecting together to make it successful. Your 2014-15 Executive Council is ready to lead the charge for the next year and build a strong foundation for the remaining four years of the plan. The future of MASFAA is dependent on the success of the plan and assistance of every member. Members, we need your encouragement, we need your volunteerism, we need your wisdom and we need your support. Help us to promote membership, advocacy and the training opportunities we offer. Please help us to make a great MASFAA even better!
