    Assistant Director – Student Employment

    Applications are being sought for the position of Assistant Director, Student Employment in the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Established in 1867, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a premier public research university distinguished by the breadth and quality of its programs. Located in east central Illinois, the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign is the state’s flagship public university and has an enrollment of over 47,000 students. Last year, over $872 million in financial aid funds were disbursed to 72% of the students enrolled.

    The Assistant Director, Student Employment is a member of the management team that supervises and is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the Student Employment Unit in the Office of Student Financial Aid.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership, supervision and direction in the Student Employment Unit in OSFA.
    • Serve as a member of the office's management team which directs all office activity including, but not limited to, planning, supervision, staff training, public presentations, serving as a liaison with appropriate offices and agencies, communication, developing and implementing policies and procedures, regulatory compliance, fiscal management, report preparation, and directing day-to-day activities of the office.
    • Serve as the lead campus person for administering all aspects of the undergraduate student employment programs.
    • Responsible for student employment processing in Banner HR, the HR Front End and other related systems; evaluates electronic employment documents for undergraduate employees.
    • Interpret and understand federal, state, and institutional financial aid program regulations, human resource regulations and campus awarding policies and processes.
    • Responsible for the direct supervision, training and evaluation of staff in the Student Employment Unit.
    • Determines eligibility and calculates all Federal Work-Study Graduate Assistantship awards.
    • Manages all community service student employment programs, including the preparation of all annual contracts with off-campus agencies.
    • Review and respond to undergraduate student unemployment claims.
    • Manages and is responsible for the Virtual Job Board.
    • Monitors Federal Work-Study pay loaders.
    • Serve as liaison with campus hiring officials, off-campus employers, Payroll, and other Human Resource departments.
    • Identify problems and contribute to the development and implementation of solutions.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and Director of the Office of Student Financial Aid.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in student financial aid or human resource administration that demonstrates experience with a broad range of student aid or human resource programs
    • Supervisory or leadership experience
    • Education and experience should reflect the responsibilities for financial aid or human resource administration in a large and highly complex environment and the supervision of a staff delivering a wide range of financial aid programs and services to a diverse student body.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree
