The Professional Development committee is excited to announce our next opportunity – Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). This session will be facilitated by Manda Riley on Tuesday, May 17 from 9am-1pm CT and Thursday, May 19 from 9am-1pm CT. It is required to attend the full session each day to complete the training. Registration is limited to the first 15 MASFAA members who register. We will have a second opportunity to complete the training in September 2022. This course is valued at $170. Thanks to a generous donation from MASFAA and the Professional Development Committee, learners may attend at no charge.
Through MHFA training, you will learn how to support your friends, family, and neighbors (and students/colleagues!) through training that will teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance challenges among adults. At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to: recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges; recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges; understand how to interact with a person in crisis; know how to connect a person with help; and, use self-care tools and techniques.
