Association Update - MASFAA President

May 2026

As spring continues to fly by, MASFAA is buzzing with activity across the region!  State conferences are well underway, and it has been incredible to see the energy, collaboration, and commitment to students and the profession at each event. Thank you to all of our state associations, volunteers, presenters, and attendees who continue to make these conferences such a success.

Our MASFAA committees and leadership teams are also hard at work on preparing for an exciting summer and fall. Planning for the MASFAA Summer Institute & Leadership Symposium is ongoing, and we look forward to bringing together new and experienced financial aid professionals for another outstanding professional development experience.

The MASFAA Pathways Book Club has officially selected its next book - The Long Game by Dorie Clark which focuses on how to think long term, build strategic momentum, and achieve lasting career success - We are excited to for another opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together through meaningful conversation and shared perspectives.  I hope you can join us on May 27th for this discussion!

This season also brough MASFAA elections, and I want to extend a sincere than you to everyone who was willing to run and serve our association.  It takes a village, and your willingness to lead and contribute your time and talents is what keeps MASFAA strong.  Congratulations to those who were elected to serve in leadership roles:

  • President-Elect: Alex DeLonis, St. Louis University (MO)
  • Secretary: Heidi Johnson, University of Wisconsin (WI)
  • Treasurer-Elect: Kemmoree Duncombe, Kirtland Community College (MI)
  • Delegate-at-Large: Zack Goodwin, Marquette University (WI)

We are excited for the future of the association and grateful for your commitment to our members and students!

In addition, our newsletters, webinars, and member engagement initiatives continue to provide opportunities to stay informed and connected throughout the year.  MASFAA's strength comes from the passion and dedication of our members, and it is inspiring to see that commitment in action across all corners of the association.

Thank you for everything you do to support our students, families, and one another as we go into yet another challenging regulatory change climate.  We can do all things if we stick together, stay connected, stay engaged, and continue making greatness happen throughout MASFAA and our profession.

With appreciation,

Emily Haynam
